The dialysis access for hemodialysis, the dialysis shunts (Cimino, Grazc, interposition fistula) and the dialysis catheters are shown. The latter are divided into temporary ones (e.g. Shaldon, Tesio) and permanent ones (e.g. Quinton, Permcath, Demers). Finally, the CAPD catheter for peritoneal dialysis is briefly discussed. This is the 92nd video in the CHIRURGIE APPetizer series. The videos are aimed at medical students, but also anyone interested in medicine/surgery. We want to convey the knowledge relevant to clinical practice as a doctor, but also the knowledge relevant to the exam, in a clear, didactically prepared form. We always aim to make references to current academic discussions and references to current primary and secondary literature. A certain importance is also devoted to the history of medicine, in which the achievements of pioneers in surgery/medicine are recognized.
