About :

At the request of a number of NewsJardinTV's loyal followers, Nicole and Patrick Mioulane are pleased to open the doors of their small personal garden located in Essonne. They welcome you in the company of Perle, NewsJardinTV's adorable westie mascot. Although only covering 500 m2, the garden of our favorite gardeners is segmented into different very different atmospheres, which is made easier by the fact that the land extends all around the house. Patrick introduces you and comments on the place, while Nicole works on camera to make you enjoy the atmosphere of the place and its plants as much as possible. The front garden consists of an open area that allows you to bring the car in if necessary. The space is materialized by a circular paving. Right next to the front door, there is a mini Japanese-inspired garden, the creation of which you can see in the NewsJardinTV video: • A MINI JAPANESE GARDEN, THE REA... Patrick details the trees present in this part of the garden (Japanese privet, Pagoda dogwood, Nuttal dogwood) and he presents the new bed located along the front gate with cloud-pruned Pinus sylvestris, hydrangeas, Japanese aralia (Fatsia), agapanthus, anemone tree (Calycanthus). Right next to it, three very large bottomless planters have been custom-made to accommodate a variety of vegetation this season, including a tomato plant, various coleus, impatiens and shrubs. Passing along a generous bamboo grove, our guide then leads us on a path punctuated by a Japanese stepping stone that leads to the part of the garden located at the back of the house. The ground of this space is covered of slate flakes, the lawn being absent in Nicole and Patrick's garden. Our expert gardener lingers on the openwork fence that structures the place. Its installation was the subject of a video on NewsJardinTV ( • HOW TO REPLACE AN OLD FENCE... ) Patrick then welcomes you to the shadier part of the garden where the exotic plants that will be brought into the veranda during the fall are gathered for the summer: Calathea, Ficus, Eugenia, Monstera, Tetrapanax, tree ferns, orchids, create an exotic atmosphere. The emphasis is also placed on the wollemi pine (Wollemia nobilis), a prehistoric plant that is the pride of its owners. Before moving on to another part of the garden, our garden guide presents a beautiful tree that has already intrigued many of you: the weeping caramel tree (Cercidiphyllum japonicum 'Pendulum'). He also shows Vanda orchids and a Tillandsia that thrive on the air of time, hanging from the branches of a tree (ginnala maple), as well as a very original bird feeder and a decorative stake. Here we are now in the structured garden which, with the current plantings, offers spectacular opulence. A very productive cucumber thrives in a pot in the middle of lush vegetation in shades of yellow (Hakonechloa, Japanese maple, St. John's wort, Coleus, dahlia, abelia, etc.). But the two stars of the place are the enormous Abyssinian banana trees that exceed 2 m in height and the Japanese holly pruned into clouds that Nicole generously showers in hot weather to keep it in shape. After a quick presentation of some summer plants, including original pelargoniums, it's time for the large clump of heather earth. Planted with Japanese maples, camellias, Hydrangea quercifolia and dwarf rhododendrons, it is entirely covered with two ground cover plants: the variegated deadnettle and the very deceptive Duchesnea indica which looks very much like a strawberry plant. After passing under a porch covered with an Akebia and a winter jasmine, MiouMiou shows us a new semi-shaded clump which is home to other Japanese maples, ferns, tuberous begonias. It is located right next to the "Mediterranean" part of the garden where pots of laurels, roses, bottlebrush plants, lemon trees, dwarf palms, lagerstroemia, dipladenia and even a vine coexist. A quick look also at the circular pond which brings an additional note of life to the garden and constitutes the most structured part with its reconstituted stone coping and the claustra, one alcove of which accommodates a yew pruned into a topiary. This ensemble is extended by a wooden terrace on which are arranged pots: vine, oleander, olive tree, Chinese juniper and the collection of bonsai of the "Petite Jardinière". The report ends in the most "secret" part of the garden, a small garden of Japanese inspiration all in length. On 30 m2, it is adorned with a very original paving and a beautiful contemporary painting, not to mention a superb specimen of Ilex crenata pruned into clouds. A rhythmic video and very rich in plant discoveries which should inspire you for your own garden.
