Military historical research along the Salpalinja🎥 A military barracks that had fallen into disrepair and therefore looked like a deserted house. Log frame with board lining, foundations made of granite stones and built around 1910. The deserted house later served as a local clubhouse. The video starts with a visit to the bunker, which was not the easiest way to get to and we had to do a bit of digging🙂 It was a really nice trip all in all. A reinforced concrete fire control bunker, located in the forest next to the road leading to the former military barracks. The bunker was observed from a steel dome equipped with a fire control periscope, which is a 1940 model. According to source information, the bunker has accommodation for 20 people and wooden panels on the ceilings. The Salpalinja was built mainly between the Winter and Continuation Wars of 1940-1941 to secure Finland's eastern border. “The Salpalinja in numbers: 728 reinforced concrete trenches, 3,000 wooden field fortifications, approximately 225 km of multi-row armoured barriers were erected and over 300 km of barbed wire barriers. Over 350 kilometres of trenches and communication trenches were dug. Up to 35,000 paid civilian workers and army troops were involved in the fortification work.” Friend’s channel: /himohamstraaja More information about the protection unit: https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suojelu...
