Recent revelations by the Federal Police have exposed a coup plot involving former President Jair Bolsonaro and high-ranking military officers. The plan included an attempt to subvert democracy and threats to assassinate President Lula, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, and Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes. According to the investigation, evidence of the scheme was allegedly printed in the Planalto Palace itself. The problem is not limited to domestic politics and even affects the success of multilateral agreements. At the same time that the PF revealed details of the coup plots, the UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) held in Baku, Azerbaijan, and the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro were unfolding on the international scene. In this episode, Giovana Girardi and Marina Amaral analyze the gravity of the coup plan and discuss how the two summits ended up with weak agreements, largely affected by these impasses on the international geopolitical board.
