During this class, we will address the main characteristics of the bloodstream, such as its composition and the role of each component in the transport of substances throughout the body. Let's understand together better what the circulatory system is. Within our world of studies, we study the digestive system, immune system, excretory system, respiratory system, and hormonal system. All of these systems have the circulatory system in common, since they need circulation. The circulatory system is made up of: the heart, a pump that drives blood; vessels, the pathways through which blood passes; and capillaries. Capillaries are very thin branches (smaller than the thickness of a strand of hair) of the vessels. We could summarize today's class with a sequence of two sentences: Blood reaches the heart in the atria through the veins; Blood leaves the heart through the ventricles through the arteries. In addition to the topics mentioned above, we will also talk about the small circulation and the large circulation. We can classify the small circulation as the pulmonary circulation and the large circulation as the systemic circulation. #profgui #circulatorysystem #biology
