The ridge road that runs east to west through the Boso Peninsula, weaving its way through the border between Kazusa and Awa, is a difficult journey of about 60 km. It takes you into the mountains deep in Chiba. This is the first of a long journey along the Chiba Gunkai Ridge. Thanks to the efforts of volunteers, signposts have been put in place in recent years, and this is the part of the entire journey with the lowest risk of getting lost. This is a course where you can enjoy a variety of scenery, including the stone quarries of Mt. Nokogiri and the remains of a large quarry near Mt. Konogiri, Japanese deer and muntjac, collapsed cliffs with fresh trees, overlapping deep mountain ranges, and views of Tokyo Bay, Mt. Fuji, the Miura Peninsula, and Izu Oshima. ---------------------------------------------[Time Code] ◆ Kanaya Port Lover's Sanctuary: 1:19 ◆ Moon Viewing Platform: 2:33 ◆ Nokogiriyama Quarry Site: 4:46 ◆ Observation Deck Where the Earth Looks Round: 7:01 ◆ Nokogiriyama Summit: 7:28 ◆ Konokogiriyama: 13:30 ◆ Sagayama: 20:46 ------------------------------------------------------------[Chiba County Boundary Ridge ① Introduction: Kanaya Port - Nokogiriyama - Sagayama] ◆ Nokogiriyama is famous for the remains of a sandstone and tuff quarry. This time, I only looked at it from below and did not visit it, but Jigoku Nozoki, located in the grounds of Nihon-ji Temple, is an overhanging rock that remains above the remains of the quarry. The rock wall from which the stone was cut is clearly visible from the foot of the mountain. ◆The Gunkai Ridge that continues to the west is made of the same rock. The ridges that look like horsebacks appear in places, and there are also places where the fragile sand grains make it slippery, so proceed carefully. On this course, the large amount of fallen trees caused by Typhoon No. 15 in 2019 had been cleared away, so there were no obstacles to our way. However, there were countless cliffs with trees that had collapsed all over the surrounding mountains. This may be a by-product of the fallen trees, but there are more places with good views than before. ◆Sagayama is a deep mountain. There is no view from the summit, but there are observation decks a little to the east and north, as shown in the video. When descending from Sagayama, we recommend returning to Oboda Pass and descending instead of descending to Kama no Dai on the north side. From Kama no Dai, you can descend to Kazusaminato and the Yamanaka area, which is famous for its maples, but both are long walks on roads. ◆From the next time onwards on the Gunkai Ridge, there will be fewer (or no) signposts, routes that have not been cleared of fallen trees, and sections without any path marks. Be prepared to get lost (while still enjoying the journey). You won't know how many days it will take until you actually start walking. I would like to introduce it in several parts, with the aim of going as far as I can each time. --------------------------------------------- [Channel] @ Walking Japan ・Not famous ・Away from civilization ・Requires physical strength ・There is little information available Nevertheless, if you visit these places, you will be impressed as much as famous tourist spots, or even more so. We thoroughly research and carefully select these places and introduce them to you. ◆Operating company: Aster Vision Co., Ltd.
