In this video we demonstrate how to change the brake caliper of a VW Golf 4 on the rear axle and explain what is important. Stay mobile and try our app: ► https://bit.ly/kfteile24_App_kostenlo... ATTENTION: The brake system is a safety-relevant system and should only be touched by a specialist. With our video we want to give you an overview of the work steps and not encourage you to change the brake caliper yourself if you have no experience. NOTE: Plastilube, as we use it in the video, can damage the sleeve of the guide pin and should not be used at this point. Depending on the system, special pastes are usually included with the brake caliper. In ATE systems, the guide bushing is covered in such a way that no additional lubrication is necessary. The guide pins are then only thoroughly cleaned. Work steps when changing the brake caliper: 1. First, the brake hose is loosened and the brake caliper to be replaced is unscrewed. The Bowden cable of the parking brake must not be damaged. The cuffs on the brake hose and parking brake must also remain intact to prevent corrosion. 2. Next, check whether the new brake caliper is suitable for the car. In our case, this is a Golf IV. Also check that the brake pads move easily in their guides and clean them before greasing them. 3. Next, put the brake caliper on correctly and screw it on with the torque specified by the manufacturer. Make sure that the springs on the brake pads do not stick out through the brake caliper holder, but are resting on it. Then reconnect the brake hose. 4. The next step is to correct the pull on the parking brake. 5. Bleeding the brake system is extremely important and must be done on all brake calipers, as air bubbles in the system can cause the brakes to fail. 6. Finally, refill with the appropriate brake fluid and clean the brake caliper with water to ensure that no brake fluid remains on the brake disc or brake pads.
