Castelnaud Castle is a medieval fortress located in the French commune of Castelnaud-la-Chapelle, in the Dordogne department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. At the beginning of the 13th century, a first fortress was built but was later burned. The castle was then rebuilt and quickly became one of the main powers of Périgord. In 1789, the castle was sold as national property after the owners of the time fled. Used as a stone quarry, the building was abandoned. The restoration of the castle began in 1965, and in 1966 it was classified as a Historic Monument. Today, the castle is open to the general public. Its museum contains many testimonies of the past, such as its many pieces of weapons, its collection of armor and its 5 war machines reconstructed to life size. Thanks to the owner of the castle for allowing me to fly over it to make this documentary. For more information, do not hesitate to visit https://castelnaud.com.
