The Capri from Ford in Cologne burst into the middle of the wild 1968s and struck a chord with an entire generation. As a sleek people's sports car, it became a legend in no time. What the bosses at Ford in faraway America ordered was to become the most popular sports coupe in the world as a European version of the US bestseller Mustang. The Ford factory in Cologne had been working on the prototype for four years, then they presented the result: inexpensive but durable mass-produced technology, a vehicle with a long hood and a short rear. Nicely and fashionably packaged, always visually fast and not at all stuffy.
