The capillary effect, which causes a liquid to rise in thin capillaries, is derived from the negative pressure below the concave curved surface and the hydrostatic pressure of the water column and is shown in the experiment from min 5:00. It is also deduced that with increasing contact angle the height of the liquid column decreases (from min 7:43).
