On June 24, 2023, Thiago, @cafecomcurva, and I used Pousada da Vanda as a base and set out to explore the region, heading towards São João Batista do Glória. The initial idea was to visit Cachoeira Maria Augusta, located at Pousada Mata do Engenho (Instagram: @pousadamatadoengenho). To visit Cachoeira Maria Augusta, you need to cross a river and travel approximately 2km, starting from Pousada Mata do Engenho. However, we aborted the visit to this waterfall, as the river was deeper than normal. However, the route passed through beautiful spots such as Serra Calçada, Serra Calçada and the suspension bridge, or wooden bridge that crosses the Rio Grande, near Rio Quilombo. Riding big trail motorcycles on terrain like this already requires some off-road experience from the rider. It is also recommended to always have a friend or support person with you, because if the big trail bike falls on your leg, it will be difficult for you to get out from under it and it will take a long time for anyone to pass through this remote road. There is an example of this in this video. It is important to note that there is no cell phone signal on the route of this video either, much less at Pousada da Vanda, where you can use the Wi-Fi signal. Therefore, it is important to save the map offline and have an emergency kit for your vehicle and personal belongings. If this worries you, no problem, look for travel agencies in the city. You will certainly have some support to take you through Serra da Canastra. It is necessary to study the trails and talk to people in the region to then plot the route on Google Maps, or it will send you on different routes from where you want to go.
