The Barranco de la Hoz Route, Calomarde (Teruel) Next to the town of Calomarde, 37 km from Albarracín, we find the Río Blanco Canyon, a hiking route that stands out for being very beautiful and entertaining. It is quite gentle, as it has hardly any slopes, but there are numerous hanging steps over the river, which makes it a unique route. Let's find out all its details: The route starts in Calomarde itself and covers around 6 km round trip. You have to go through the whole town and, just before leaving it, you find a path that turns off to the right, where the route begins. At first it is a wide path where there are even swings or benches. In the large cliff next to it it is easy to see some vultures watching over their home, we were able to see many. After a short while the wide path turns into a narrower route and soon the highlight of this place begins: the walkways over the Río Blanco. They are completely safe and it is great to walk on them, as you are practically floating in the canyon. Throughout the route there are many hanging walkways, as well as bridges. Most of the path is flat, although it has some small climbs. One of the aspects that I liked most about the route is that it runs through the canyon, but that does not mean it is dangerous, since on any slope or more complicated area there are steps, railings, etc. In general, everything is in very good condition, we only saw a loose fastening in a safe area. Once the canyon ends, the route continues along a small path that crosses a poplar forest, until you reach an old mill in ruins: the Molino de las Pisadas. This is the turning point of the route. The usual thing is to return along the same place to Calomarde. However, you can also continue walking until you reach Frías de Albarracín, which is 5 km from this place.
