Slugs in the garden can really drive you to despair after a few rainy days. But it can be so easy to keep them under control. I'll show you how I do it in this video. I hope you have a bit of fun! A quick note on one of the two tricks presented: There's a TV report doing the rounds online at the moment in which uncrushed mint leaves compete against ground cinnamon. The experimental setup is of course strange in that you would have had to lay out whole cinnamon sticks ????. So for exactly this reason, don't be confused by the result shown there: Shredded or crumbled dried mint works great - as you can probably tell from the numerous comments with the experiences of other gardeners! ???? And another important note about mint: My video about it has been online for about three years, and thanks to your great comments, emails, etc., I know that for most of you it works more effectively than any slug pellets or similar, but for some it doesn't. Together we were able to find two main reasons for this: one is mint tea that has been out of date, which then becomes ineffective; the other is that if you have your own mint in your garden, it has been left in the same place for too long. In order to be able to produce a lot of essential oils, mint should be given a new location or fresh potting soil after a few years. Drying also has an influence on its effectiveness: freshly cut mint should dry as quickly as possible, but not in the sun. Another note, this time about sheep's wool: if, for example, poison bait has been spread in a vegetable garden, I have observed that there are a disproportionately large number of nasturtium snails around. So it won't work to simply spread sheep's wool around the plants and hope for a miracle. In the first few years, I still collected snails every evening, and I can't do without it. Since it's raining a lot here this year (2020), I go out now and then and pick up the little slimy creatures. In contrast to the early days, when 600 were not uncommon, now there are only around 20.
