Built around 1200, the former moated castle protects the Hartenstein seat of power and secures the river crossing. From the upper castle courtyard and the battlements you can enjoy unique views over the castle complex and the Hartenstein Forest. The castle, with its structurally almost unchanged rooms, lets visitors feel the narrowness and darkness of a medieval fortification. Numerous historical weapons, ring mail and plate armour are on display. The collection of legal antiquities is impressive, including an executioner's sword and torture instruments. You can learn interesting facts about Kunz von Kauffungen, the Altenburg prince robber, who was enfeoffed with Stein Castle from 1448 to 1450. Hartenstein is an idyllically located small town in the Zwickau district, right on the border with the Erzgebirge district. The town includes the districts of Hartenstein, Stein, Thierfeld and Zschocken. Hartenstein is very well connected in terms of transport, and can be reached via the A72 motorway, Hartenstein exit, and by bus and the Erzgebirge railway. _______________________ IMPRINT Daniela Bensch Email: [email protected] Facebook ▸ / danielabensch VAT identification number: DE231129701 Person responsible for content in accordance with Section 55 II RStV: Daniela Bensch Leipzig Editing program: Adobe Premiere Pro Camera: Canon EOS M50 Mark II Music: YouTube Creative Tool
