Hello :-) Welcome to the next part of the expedition through Bosnia, in which we continue our journey to the glacial lake Orlovačko, located at an altitude of 1452 m above sea level in the Sutjeska National Park. I have already briefly described the route, especially its initial stage, in the previous part. However, it is worth emphasizing that this hidden in the Zelengora mountain range - part of the Dinaric Alps - road number R434, is a gravel road leading through dense forests, green meadows and high mountains. Although the crossing should not pose any major difficulties, due to the sometimes steep and narrow path, covered with loose stones and bumps, it is advisable to drive a four-wheel drive car. The descent towards the lake is very steep, but the flat surface right by the shore allows you to set up camp and spend the night, or even spend a longer time there. Because hiking enthusiasts are not in danger of getting bored here. Climbing mountain paths to nearby peaks, you can feast your eyes on wild nature and the complete lack of modern civilization. And for those who like to laze around carelessly, a swim in the warm and clear lake is recommended, the depth of which increases gradually until the bottom finally ends completely. The lake is about 250 m long, 120 m wide, and at its lowest point it reaches 4.5 m deep. However, we are not destined to lie in a secluded place, soak in the silence from the mountain peaks, or quietly admire the postcard views. On the shore we find a group of campers, probably mostly locals, who, under the influence of a few alcoholic beverages and music coming from the loudspeaker, are slowly getting the party going. As it is barely approaching noon, cars arrive, the team grows, in the background you can hear rumbling, laughter, loud conversations - in a word, it is really loud. Therefore, after realizing what will happen here in the evening, we rest for a short while. Besides, our children are still not feeling well, so we prefer to leave. We advise you not to come here when the weekend of the summer season is approaching. Especially a hot and scorching weekend. After leaving the area, we drive north. After covering about 24 km, we reach the asphalt road R433, where we turn left towards Kalinovik. After this town, we turn onto the gravel road R436, and continue on, we make a 40 km crossing through high mountains. After an arduous and exhausting drive, we reach Lake Boračko, where a storm with heavy downpour must have passed shortly before our arrival. It was our little luck that we hit the weather window. There is a fee of 5 marks for entering the area by the lake. There are campsites, several guesthouses and private houses around the reservoir, but there is no possibility of setting up a wild camp. So we choose the EcoSelo campsite, which has its own entrance to the beach and plenty of space to rest in the shade. There is a café, a playground, and toilets, which, however, leave much to be desired due to their lack of cleanliness. Turning a blind eye to the imperfections, we focus our attention on something more pleasant. Namely, the Boračko glacial lake, located at the foot of Mount Prenj, is a delight. It delights not only with its proximity to the mountain peaks, but also with its emerald green colour, the temperature reaching up to 25 degrees in the height of summer, a real paradise for fishermen, and the water lilies and reeds growing on the shores. This is an ideal place for people looking for a break from the hustle and bustle, of course apart from weekends. After a good night's sleep, a morning cool down in the lake and taking in some positive impressions, we pack our things, leave our very nice dog friend and set off towards Lukomir. Szymon and Milena are gaining strength after their illness, while we feel weaker with every kilometre we cover. Will we reach our destination by climbing to the proverbial edge of the world?
