Hello 🙂 Hello everyone in the third episode, reporting on our journey through Bosnia this year. In each of them we present the route we have travelled, the areas we have reached and the places we have stayed overnight, as well as our daily lives. In this episode we will go to the picturesque region of the Vranica mountain range. After packing up camp, we set off towards the settlement on Lake Prokosko. Driving along the asphalt road R439, after about 12 km we turn onto the R438 road, which, despite the markings, changes surface to gravel. The forest, bumpy and sometimes narrow road leads between dense bushes. When after driving about 9 km we turn onto the road without a number, the terrain is steeper and bumpier. The final stage leads along a precipice in a more open space. There are sections on the route where two wider vehicles travelling in the opposite direction may have a problem passing each other, but the entire journey should not cause any major difficulties. In Bosnia, natural beauty can be found in almost every corner, regardless of whether we travel along the most ordinary road in the lowlands or climb the backroads between the mountains. Just two hours from Sarajevo, but far away, about 22 km, from the nearest town of Fojnica, in the heart of Vranica lies one of these beauties. Situated at an altitude of 1636 m above sea level, the glacial Lake Prokosko is about 300 m long and 200 m wide. After being recognized for its exceptional value for biodiversity, it was declared a natural monument. The shores of the lake are dominated by traditional vernacular architecture, which once functioned as a shepherd's habitat, but today these small wooden houses, in addition to being inhabited by locals, are open to tourists from mid-May to the end of October. After an overnight stay at Lake Ramsko, we pack up camp and set off towards Livno. The weather is good, and the sky is cloudless and hot. After driving a few dozen kilometers, the friendly weather definitely changes. Will the dark, storm clouds moving over the Dinara mountain range thwart our plans? Stay tuned for the next episode.
