If you wanted a luxury German sedan without the luxury price tag, you’d probably consider buying a used car… But what about a used car that’s more than 20 years old? Well, Mat got his hands on an Audi A4, a BMW 3 Series, and a Mercedes C-Class, all from the early 2000s, to see if it’s worth going for a classic saloon. Oh, and of course it’s going to be drag racing! First up, the Audi A4. It’s covered 207,000km and has a 2.0-litre inline-four petrol engine that makes 130hp and 195Nm. That power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. Then there’s the Mercedes C180. It has covered 200,000 km and has a 1.8-liter inline-four engine with a supercharger. It makes 141 hp and 220 Nm. That power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Lastly, there is the BMW 318i. It has covered 140,000 km and has a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-four engine that makes 140 hp and 200 Nm. That power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.
