For weeks, the family judge had tried to get the right case on the table. He had specifically selected experts who supported his opinion - namely that the corona measures were endangering the health of children. The problem: As a family judge, the defendant was not responsible at all for lifting the mask requirement in schools. Instead, an administrative court should have decided. The judge's decision to lift the mask requirement in Weimar schools was reversed - and he was sentenced to two years' probation for perverting the course of justice. The Federal Court of Justice confirmed this verdict today. The crucial question was whether the family judge's conduct crossed the threshold for perverting the course of justice - in other words, whether he had disregarded the law in a particularly serious way. The Federal Court of Justice says: The judge violated the law in an elementary way because he abused his position of power as a judge and was guided by his own interests. The verdict against him is therefore final. He loses both his office and any pension entitlements.
