Shakespeare on the roof and canals, Peaky Blinders and Tolkien all in one. A city that is not very well known to tourists, but hides enough fascinating things to keep you busy for a couple of days. I was surprised myself, but this seemingly unremarkable city has a lot to offer! What did you know about Birmingham: Durand Durand or Tony Miles? Chamberlain or Cadbury? James Watt or John Baskerville? Mini Cooper or Hobbiton? But a tour of Birmingham is not limited to even these! What to see in Birmingham? At the beginning of the issue, we will look into two cathedrals - St. Philip's Cathedral and St. Chad's Cathedral. Have you heard about the smallest cathedral in England and how incendiary bombs jump? Do you know what else causes a strange feeling? Canals flowing inside the city! In Birmingham, they are not like Amsterdam or Venice and, in principle, it is understandable why. And the story with the trees? Forty years ago, all the trees in the city were cut down, and this was a real shock for local residents. I will tell you why such a drastic measure was taken. No, it had nothing to do with ecology. But the most exciting place we will visit in the city itself is the library. It is simply stunning in its design and scale. And here is a surprise: on the roof of this library there will be nothing other than a Shakespeare center! How did it, built in the 19th century, end up there? And now for the most unexpected thing! Who knows how Birmingham and Middle-earth, Hobbiton and Tolkien are connected? This is simply an incredible story that you cannot miss! Of course, in addition to all these amazing places, Birmingham has other interesting attractions. But I'll leave everyone free to choose and mention just a few of them: the docks where Peaky Blinders was filmed, the National Motorcycle Museum... I'm sure everyone will be able to decide for themselves what attracts them most and finally understand: is it worth going to Birmingham and what can you see there.
