Patreon, Almuzara and Amazon, you can search for me as Victor Aguilar-Chang ------------------------------------------------------------- The Franco-Prussian War broke out on July 19, 1870, in it two new weapons were used, the Prussian breech-loading artillery and the French machine guns; the use of the railroad for the strategic movement of the armies was also increased, but more importantly, the Prussians used mass mobilization with a new type of soldier, the reservist, and they also used an innovative form of command and control; but even so the combat tactics were obsolete and their use caused a substantial number of casualties in all battles. In this first video we will see the events that preceded the Battle of Sedan, fought on September 1-2, 1870, and we will see how those previous events caused the other great French defeat of that war.
