Fishing on the Baltic Sea in Schleswig-Holstein for cod, flatfish, mackerel, sea trout, herring and many other fish species was and is popular. But the Baltic Sea is not doing well. Overfishing by fishermen, old ammunition, nutrient inputs, lack of inflow events, global warming and other factors are taking their toll on the Baltic Sea. RUTE&ROLLE editor Jesco Peschutter visited people from the region on the Baltic coast with sea angler and pilker maker Michael Eisele to ask them questions about Baltic Sea fishing for cod, plaice, dab, flounder, garfish, mullet, herring, mackerel and the like. One somewhat provocative question is: Is fishing on the Baltic Sea dying? These and other questions are answered by Kalle Rohde (Kalles Angelshop, Neustadt in Holstein), Claus-Hartwig Kölln (Baltic Kölln, Heiligenhafen), Manfred Wohnrade (WiSH Wassertourismus in Schleswig-Holstein), Thomas Deutsch (MS-Einigkeit, Heiligenhafen) and Stephan Gauert (Boat & Living GmbH, Heiligenhafen), among others. In this fishing video we would like to take you on a little journey through time. What was fishing like on the Baltic Sea around 30 to 40 years ago? What has changed today compared to fishing in the past? Will fishing on the Baltic Sea die out in the future? In the past there were lots of cod when surf fishing from the beach, wading fishing with a spinning rod, fly fishing, fishing from a boat and fishing from a cutter on the sea. Herring fishing, mackerel fishing and fishing for flatfish, eel, sea trout, eelpout, garfish and even ide and large perch on the Baltic Sea used to be great. Cod and sea trout could be caught using a fly rod. In Heiligenhafen, there were many fishing boats and ships with passengers in the harbor. The main fish caught by the boats was cod. Fish weighing up to 20 kg were caught when fishing for cod in the Baltic Sea. Anglers came to Heiligenhafen by bus to catch cod with pilkers and bycatches. Fishing tourism in Schleswig-Holstein attracted many tourists to the popular fishing country in spring, summer, autumn and winter to sea fish on the Baltic Sea. Today, fishing and equipment are generally more delicate and the fishing tackle lighter - lines are thinner, baits smaller, rods more sensitive and reels more modern. Nowadays, cod are not the main target fish, but plaice, dab and flounder are caught when fishing for flatfish with lugworms and ragworms. It is also still worth fishing for garfish, sea trout, mackerel and herring in the Baltic Sea and good catches of these fish are possible even for beginners. Even turbot is occasionally caught on bait, even when fishing for plaice. Families come to the coast and harbours to fish in the Baltic Sea. Coalfish, whiting and salmon are all caught on Baltic Sea holidays. Compared to light spin fishing for sea trout with a spoon or sbirolino and fly fishing for sea trout, surf fishing from the shore is less common today. Fishing for mullet and catches with a fly rod have declined significantly over the years, as has cod fishing from the beach, small boat or cutter. There are now designations of protected areas, fishing bans and catch restrictions, such as a bag limit of one fish per day for cod. Among other things, the bag limit of one cod has ensured that there are very few deep-sea fishing businesses left in the Baltic Sea. A very current issue is the planned Baltic Sea National Park, which Environment Minister Tobias Goldschmidt has received criticism for. Areas are to be closed off on the Baltic Sea, but nobody can answer at this point what restrictions will apply to tourism and water sports enthusiasts such as anglers, surfers, kiters or sailors. You can find out whether fishing on the Baltic Sea is dying or whether a visit and fishing holiday on the Baltic Sea is still worthwhile from people from the region who answer this question in detail in the video and have exciting answers for you in this Baltic Sea documentary. #fishing #balticsea #nationalpark Information about the interview partners from the video: Kalle Rohde: https://kallesangelshop.de/ Claus-Hartwig Kölln: https://baltic-heiligenhafen.de/ Manfred Wohnrade: https://www.wassertourismus-sh.de/ Thomas Deutsch: https://www.ms-einigkeit.de/ Stephan Gauert: https://boatandliving.de/ Michael Eisele: http://www.sea-fishing.de/ Camera: Jesco Peschutter Film editing: Kristina Reifschneider ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ANGLERBOARD TV ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ► Subscribe to ABTV now & don't miss any more videos: www.youtube.com/AnglerboardTV/?sub_co... ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ SOCIAL MEDIA ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ► ANGLERBOARD Homepage: https://www.anglerboard.de/ Facebook: / anglerboard Instagram: / anglerboard ► RUTE & ROLLE Homepage: https://ruteundrolle.de/ Facebook: / ruteundrolle Instagram: / ruteundrolle
