This photo was taken at Atami Station (conventional line), which is the boundary between JR East and JR Central. (The exact company boundary is inside Kurimiya Station.) Tokaido Line local trains basically split into different operating systems at Atami Station. Some local trains run from Numazu Station and the Ito Line to the Kanto region, but the number of local trains that run directly through Atami Station has drastically decreased. Because the vehicles, transportation capacity, and timetable patterns differ at Atami Station, local trains have been split into different systems at Atami Station. ・Shuzenji Odoriko (JR East-JR Central-Izu Hakone Railway direct service) When the Odoriko trains were changed from the 185 series to the E257 series, attention was focused on the future of the Odoriko trains departing and arriving at Shuzenji Station, but even after the E257 series was replaced, they continue to operate as a direct service between the three companies. ・Freight trains run directly to the western Japan region and even further away to Kyushu and Shikoku. Basically, freight trains pass through Atami Station (there is no crew change, etc.). ・The Ito Line is double track between Atami Station and Kurumi Station, and single track between Kurumi Station and Ito Station. Many trains run directly from Ito Station to the Izu Kyuko Line. Limited express trains "Odoriko" and "Saphir Odoriko" and local trains run onto the Izu Kyuko Line. There are no regular freight trains that run on the Ito Line. ・Regarding station structure and wiring Platform 1 has been changed to be used exclusively for turning around on the Ito Line. Platform 2 is the main line for the outbound Tokaido Line, and Platform 5 is the main line for the inbound Tokaido Line. Trains that terminate at Atami Station from the Shizuoka area mainly turn around on Platform 3. (They may also turn around on Platform 4) Trains bound for Atami from the Tokyo area may turn around on Platform 4 or other platforms, but they are often sent to Kurumi Station after confirming that passengers have disembarked. The distance between Atami Station and Kurumi Station is 1.2 km, and the Tokaido Line and the Ito Line run parallel to Kurumi Station. However, only the Ito Line has a passenger platform at Kurumi Station. There is no passenger platform at Kurumi Station on the Tokaido Line, but there are two tracks for turnarounds. By sending trains bound for Atami to Kurumi Station, the tracks at Atami Station can be cleared, helping to supplement Atami Station's hub function. By clearing the tracks at Atami Station, freight trains and express trains can pass through, and there is also room to respond when the timetable is disrupted. The turnaround facilities at Kurumi Station also play an important role in supporting the operation of the Ueno-Tokyo Line and the faraway Utsunomiya and Takasaki Lines. For the Atami Station → Kurumi Station → Atami Station, the main line driver was on duty, not the yard driver. Other highlights include the twisting direct train service between the Ito Line and the Tokaido Main Line, and the splitting and merging of the Odoriko Limited Express! Atami Station (conventional lines) is a terminal where lines and trains converge from three directions, so a variety of vehicles arrive and depart. There are many trains running in all three directions, so you can enjoy yourself even if you only have a short stay. Atami is relatively close to the Tokyo metropolitan area, and is also popular as a hot spring town and tourist destination. It was not the season for the Seishun 18 Ticket, but even on a weekday it was crowded with tourists and people transferring. [Membership] / @shio_vanilla I took a picture of this video by Atami station in the city of Atami, Shizuoka Atami Prefecture, Japan. This station is served by the Tokaido Main Line, the Ito Line, and the Tokaido Shinkansen. I did not take any video of the Shinkansen this time. I photographed express trains, commuter trains, local trains, tourist trains, and freight trains. #Branch station #Atami Station #Through operation
