The music of The Beatles, their chords, and melodies really do illustrate the emotional plot of the words. This does not always happen: sometimes the accompaniment quite formally complements the melody, and sometimes the melody turns out to be an addition to the chords, which say it all. This is not the case at all. The lecture discussed how a rock-n-roll composition is structured and what features exist in the notes, how the song Yesterday conveys the form and feeling of a chain of thoughts and memories in the head, how it turned out that the song Michelle is both a portrait of a girl and a very accurate sketch of the hero's feelings for her, why the song Eleanor Rigby contains both hope and acceptance - and, of course, how The Beatles experimented and what new things they brought to music. Anna Vilenskaya graduated from the theoretical and composition department of the St. Petersburg Music College named after Rimsky-Korsakov, in 2017-2020 she studied at the composition and conducting department of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, composition class. Author of three video courses on music theory and piano, author of the podcast of the Shostakovich St. Petersburg Philharmonic and the Union of Composers of Russia. Host of the concert series "I am a Composer!" in Zaryadye, as well as the author's series of lectures on music on the new stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater.
