Outrun from Sega has been in development for 20 years. The first Outrun release hit the arcades like a bomb. ???????????????????????? -- If you want to support me: https://www.tipeeestream.com/diepixel... ???????????????????????????? : / dpixelspieler Outrun Description: The player drives a Ferrari Testarossa convertible through a branching race course with a blonde co-driver at his side. Starting at Coconut Beach, he must reach four checkpoints in order to complete five sections of the track within a set time limit. At the time of its release, the game was unique in that it was possible to choose your own race track (except for the first one). Before each checkpoint, the road splits, forcing the player to decide which of two sections of track to drive through next. The chassis came in a total of four different versions. There were two versions of the normal, upright model, the "deluxe upright" and a slightly smaller "mini upright". The upright models only had a steering wheel, gearshift and pedals. There were also two versions of the more luxurious "sit-down" models, which had the stylized shape of a Testarossa. These were equipped with a hydraulic mechanism that moved the part of the chassis where the driver sat in accordance with the actions in the game. Out Run was the first racing simulation to support force feedback. If the player had an accident, the car would roll over, the driver and passenger would be thrown out of the car, and the player would be virtually scolded by his blonde passenger. The game was very successful and is often considered the best racing game in arcades. The game owes its popularity mainly to the innovative hydraulic housing, the choice of background music and track, and the graphics, which gave the player a speed that no other arcade racing game of the time could. 3D racing simulations have been around since 1976, but they were much simpler graphically. The game Pole Position (Namco, 1982) is considered the pioneer of realistic racing games. Never before had such fluid and detailed gameplay been admired. Yu Suzuku and the rest of Sega's Am2 team created the archetype of the 80s arcade racer. The success spurred Am2 and Sega to release more Outrun games. In addition to Turbo Outrun, Outrunners and Outrun 2, I also look at some strange Outrun home ports. These include lesser-known versions such as Turbo Outrun for the FM Towns Marty system.
