Baby's sleep windows are periods during which the baby is biologically predisposed to sleep. Understanding and respecting these windows can help establish a healthy sleep routine, avoiding excessive fatigue and promoting adequate development. These windows vary according to the baby's age, as their sleep needs change as they grow. Sleep windows according to baby stages: Newborns (0-3 months): Newborns have very short sleep cycles, usually between 45 minutes and 2 hours. They spend most of their time sleeping, with sleep windows of 30 to 90 minutes. Babies aged 3-6 months: At this stage, babies begin to consolidate more nighttime sleep and daytime naps, with sleep windows of 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Babies aged 6-9 months: Sleep windows increase to 2 to 3 hours, with two to three naps during the day and a longer sleep at night. Babies aged 9-12 months: With sleep windows of 2.5 to 4 hours, most babies in this age range take two naps during the day and sleep through the night. Understanding and respecting your baby's sleep windows is essential to promoting healthy development and ensuring that your baby gets the amount of sleep he or she needs to grow. Paying close attention to signs of tiredness and creating a consistent routine can make all the difference in the quality of your baby's sleep and the well-being of the family as a whole.
