The Artistic Dance Club "Pyrrichos" is a non-profit association. It was founded in 2012 in Thessaloniki. Among the purposes in its statutes are mentioned: • The raising of the cultural and spiritual level of its members, the wider area of Thessaloniki and the whole country. • The rescue, dissemination and promotion of the cultural heritage of the Pontic Greeks. • Providing opportunities for young people to develop responsible activities and use their time constructively through cultural activities related to the tradition of the Pontic Greeks. • The representation of the youth and the sections of the Association before all agencies in Greece, the coordination, representation and promotion of the action of its members and groups. • The gathering, study and provision of information and knowledge to its members on historical, linguistic, folkloric and musical issues related to the folk tradition of the Pontic Greeks. The patron and guardian of Pyrrhic is the Holy Great Martyr George the Trophy Bearer who is depicted on the club's banner. Saint George was particularly honored in Pontus, both in the Holy Royal Patriarchal and Cross Monastery of Saint George Peristereotas in Galiana of Matsoukas, and in every village, town and city where, after the Virgin Mary, he is the most popular Saint of Pontus Christians. The Pyrrhic activities take place at the 2nd Primary School of Eleftheriou Kordelio in Thessaloniki every Saturday from 6 to 9 pm and are free for children and teenagers up to 18 years of age. Pyrrhikos has a strong presence in the historical and folkloric matters concerning Pontus, represents and promotes in Greece and abroad the Culture of the Greeks of Pontus and has an internet presence on all social networking channels. In Pyrrhikos, the 10 language idioms of the Pontic dialect, music and song are taught, the costumes are studied and the dances of the Greeks of Pontus are rendered faithfully and without adulteration or falsification by the researcher of the Pontic tradition Mr. Vasilios Polatidis.
