About :

VICE investigates the day after a man is released from a penitentiary. What is the imprint of detention conditions on him? Is there aftercare? VICE journalists Kostas Pliakos and Dimitra Athanasopoulou entered Korydallos prisons. They toured the facilities and found that the "revolving door" phenomenon applies. Most prisoners who are released end up going back inside. And not once. VICE caught up with people who are about to be released from prison and asked them how they imagine their next day as free citizens and how they prepare for it. He also met people who have been released from prison and are trying to manage their new everyday life outside of prison and the stigma of being a prisoner. VICE also visits the KETHEA hostel in Korydallos prisons, talks to incarcerated users who are in the treatment stage, and talks with Irini Tsalera, training manager of the KETHEA En Drasi program, about the possibilities that education offers in the effort to reintegrate the released. VICE also met with Panagiotis Fragias, former prisoner, current Chairman of the Board of Directors of KOINSEP REINTEGRATION NEW HORIZONS and partner of EPANODOS, the first and only post-prison care organization that deals with the reintegration of released prisoners, while the General Secretary of Anti-Crime Policy, Konstantinos Papathanasiou granted interview about the new prison system and the issue of reintegration. Finally, the actor Yiannis Stankoglou, who starred in a film that was shot entirely inside the prison by prisoners, spoke to VICE about his small experience of incarceration and about the beneficial action of art in the lives of prisoners.
