Psychologist Mathizy Pinheiro talks about the healthy ways she learned from children to confront racism and about the power of Afro-Brazilian culture for social transformation and racial equality. Mathizy Pinheiro became a psychologist because she wanted to better understand people and relationships. During her studies, she began to realize the potential for change and transformation through the psychodrama approach in working with social, educational and community areas, the areas in which she currently works. She coordinates the social initiative Oju Orum, which provides support and empowerment for black women, and the Children's Project É Da Nossa Cor, which works on protagonism, self-esteem and identity through Afro-Brazilian culture. She builds dialogues between the psychodrama approach and the African worldview, understanding that there are other patterns of civilization, and rescues Afro-civilizational values that enable racial equality.
