I had been waiting for a long time to accomplish this small feat. Reaching the highest peak of the #Apennines, the Corno Grande. At 2,912 meters above sea level is the summit of the #GranSasso d'Italia, the roof of Abruzzo, the linchpin of the peninsula. At its feet unfolds one of the most unpredictable and extraordinary landscapes I have ever seen, Campo Imperatore. When I arrived early in the morning at the starting point of the trails I met a boy who had just come down from the top of the mountain. He had set off at 2 in the morning to reach the summit in time to see the sunrise over the Adriatic. The mere thought took my breath away. Life is full of opportunities to be seized. #Abruzzo
