In this second meeting of the cycle dedicated to the history of Italian identity in the contemporary age, we will investigate, together with Prof. Silvana Patriarca, how the notion of Italianness took shape starting from the Risorgimento and evolved and consolidated until the advent of the fascist regime. We will observe how iconic figures took part in building this imaginary, and how the notion of national character is inseparable from its relational context that generates it (ideas, cultures, political institutions, individual historical contingencies).
