A white house standing alone without a single house nearby. It is said to be located on a sweet potato-shaped hill, and the retaining wall behind the house is a whopping 14 meters! It is a strange house with no windows and only walls visible on a land where it is difficult to build a house because the building coverage ratio is less than 20%. It is said that this house was built by an architect with 10 years of experience, turning the disadvantages of the land into advantages. When they lived in an apartment, the couple and their three children did not have the personal space they needed. As the children grew up and the work at home increased, the husband, who needed a larger space, searched for land every day and found the current site. It is a precious land with a park right in front of it, and a forest visible from the city center, located in a school district from elementary school to high school. However, as the advantages were clear, the disadvantages were also clear. However, the architect said that the difficult conditions of the land were challenging factors. The first disadvantage of the land was the exposure of privacy! Since there were schools nearby, there were more than 500 students going to and from school. In addition, since it was a slope, the interior was visible when looking down. So the idea was three 8-meter concrete walls. By extending the three walls so that the house could not be seen when looking down, the south-facing light and green forest could be brought into the house. In addition, the long walls blocked the yard, so you could enjoy a barbecue without worrying about the view. The second disadvantage of the land was the retaining wall! The retaining wall, which is higher than the house, seems to block the view and make it stuffy, but it actually blocks the wind. The retaining wall is located in the north, where there is no sun and only the wind. This wall is said to be sturdy because it blocks the cold wind in the winter. The last disadvantage of the land is the low building-to-land ratio! There are only 5 people living in a 22-pyeong house. Since each person needed their own room, as well as a kitchen and office space, the living room was pushed to the basement. But this problem can be solved by boldly installing a sunken! Thanks to not one but two sunkens, sufficient light enters the basement. Since it is a place prone to moisture, a waterway was created in the internal concrete to prevent defects, and blocks were added on top of it to finish. Thanks to this, the basement is sufficiently comfortable. The design started from the beginning with the focus on creating a personal space for each person. The architect husband put even more effort into building the house so that all family members could be satisfied in their own space. The architect saw potential, not shortcomings, in the ugly land.
