The Expeditions program goes to Minas Gerais to record the history of a city that began as a mining village and, over the course of its 300 years, became one of the jewels of Brazilian baroque art: Ouro Preto. Paula Saldanha and Roberto Werneck begin their journey to the interior of Minas Gerais, which witnessed the arrival of the first bandeirantes to the place that would soon become Vila Rica, a region full of gold that fueled political, artistic and prosperous dreams. Historian Milton Teixeira gives an interview with detailed accounts of this three-century process. Writer Angela Leite Xavier, the director of the Museu da Inconfidência, Rui Mourão, and Vicente de Paula Gomes, an employee of the Teatro Municipal de Ouro Preto, complete the group of interviewees. Expeditions documents the Gold Cycle in the city of Minas Gerais, the emergence of a wave of exquisite artists, among whom Mestre Aleijadinho stands out. The Baroque and Rococo styles of Minas Gerais, in addition to the very well-preserved architectural and urban complex. The program takes the viewer to learn a little about the lives of notable figures, such as Tiradentes, Chico Rei and Marília de Dirceu.
