※ This video is part of <Architecture Exploration House - Temperature of the House> broadcast on January 7, 2020. Do you know about passive houses where the temperature of the house is constant? Jeongmin's house in Sacheon, Gyeongnam maintains an indoor temperature of 26℃ without heating even in the middle of winter like these days. The secret lies in the passive house construction that minimizes heat loss like a thermos. This is because the house was built with materials that have better insulation performance than ordinary houses, and thorough airtight work was done on the gaps where wind can enter, such as windows and roofs. It traps solar energy that comes in through south-facing windows during the day and maintains the temperature all the way to night. Although there is a boiler, it is only used when hot water is used, so the average monthly heating cost is 24,000 won. This is a significant savings compared to the 195,000 won (Seoul City House Heating Expenditure Survey, 2015) of ordinary houses with the same area as Jeongmin's house. This house reduces energy use by about 88%. The longer you live, the more you save energy, recover costs, and help the environment, but the initial construction cost is still higher than that of a regular house. However, the reason they chose a passive house is because of their father, Gyeong-rak. They say they wanted to build a house that would be a little bit more helpful for the environment in which their child would grow up. Let’s meet Jeong-min’s family who live in a passive house built with their father’s heart. ✔ Program name: Architectural Exploration House - Temperature of the House ✔ Broadcast date: 2020.01.07
