It traps solar energy that comes in through south-facing windows during the day and maintains the temperature all the way to night. Although there is a boiler, it is only used when hot water is used, so the average monthly heating cost is 24,000 won. This is a significant savings compared to the 195,000 won (Seoul City House Heating Expenditure Survey, 2015) of ordinary houses with the same area as Jeongmin's house. This house reduces energy use by about 88%.
