When visiting the area around Jelenia Góra, it was impossible not to visit Kowary. Several decades ago, when we heard the word Kowary, a colorful, durable carpet appeared in our imagination. When we arrived in Kowary in the early afternoon, the city was already asleep. Our eyes were drawn to the exhibits of the Kowary Sculpture Gallery, which appeared to our eyes every now and then. The city authorities beautifully renovated the tenement houses standing by the representative promenade. This promenade leads from the City Office towards the church, and along it flows the Jedlica River, or maybe the promenade was built by the river? It is not my concern. At the end of the promenade, already by the church, the Jedlica flows with a fast current and a man hugs a woman close to him, because she needs it. We stop for a moment on the footbridge over the Jedlica to listen to its murmur. We listen. Then we looked at the building of the Franciscan monastery and returned, passing the church on the way. There are very few people on this promenade, and if there are, it is clear that they are not doing particularly well. We are again at the building of the City Office in Kowary, which looks distinguished and has nothing to do with the atmosphere of this city, because it is quiet and sad here, we move on. The inscription catches our eye "Royal Mining City of Kowary Tradition Rooms". In the background of the photo and in the next one, you can see a gloomy image of the decline of former glory. We did not enter the Museum, reality did not invite us. Somehow, a comparison to human life came to my mind. A beautiful beginning, wonderful adulthood and a sad end.
