An 8mm film of steam locomotives and trains around Okayama Station before the opening of the Okayama Shinkansen in March 1972. I was able to turn on the Elmo projector for the first time in 20 years, and edited some rough footage I shot on my smartphone. The film starts with passenger and freight trains pulled by the Hakubi Line D51 at Soja Station. At the time, there were also C11s at the Okayama Locomotive Depot, and although there was no footage of the 9600 or C58, there was some precious footage of the Tsuyama Line C11, the Kibi Line C11, and the Hakubi Line D51 running in triple-units every day, sending trains to Okayama Station in the evening. The Sanyo Line next to the depot is still in use with the 80-series Shonan trains, and it's rare to see footage of the three-windowed KuHa 86-100. There are also 583 series and a mix of 165 and 153 series. I wonder if the Hakubi Line KiHa 10 and KiHa 55 series are also coupled together. There is also footage of Himeji Locomotive Depot on the way to Osaka, probably from the time of the 1970 Expo. The black and white footage of Asahikawa Bridge also shows the 151 Series and 181 Series Uzushio, coupled with Kuroha 151 and others. The freight train is pulled by an EF58. At the depot, there are also EF15s. At one point, there are various trains mixed together, including Blue Trains. #Opening of the Okayama Shinkansen Line #Okayama Station #Steam Locomotive #8mm Film #Hakubi Line #D51 #Passenger Train #Okayama Locomotive Depot #Tsuyama Line #C11 #Kibi Line #Triple Unit #Shonan Train #80 Series #Kiha 10 Series #Kuha 86-100 #583 Series #165 Series #Kiha Uni #Himeji Locomotive Depot #1970s
