Youtube membership: / @bollagyorgy Today, the supermini is on the verge of extinction, but in recent decades it was the defining category in Europe. And the original Renault 5 was one of the first representatives, the sports version made from it, and the 1976 Renault 5 Alpine was one of the earliest hot hatchbacks. But by the '80s, the factory felt that this was not wild enough, so they added a turbo, and the nose-mid-engine Renault 5 Alpine Turbo was born. Not to be confused with the rear-mid-engine Renault 5 Turbo, which was put together not by Alpine, but by the engineers of the factory's sports department, for homologation purposes. This car is a regular Renault 5 in every respect, but it's literally turbocharged: instead of the 37 horsepower of the base engine, it has 110. Unfortunately, we couldn't test how much it blows our minds, because this particular R5 Alpine Turbo is not roadworthy, but its history and technology are still interesting. With that, we wish you a Merry Christmas! 🎅 🎁 Technical data - Renault 5 Alpine Turbo (1983) engine: C6J Cleon-Fonte transmission: 5-speed manual displacement: 1397 cm3 power: 110 HP @ 6000 rpm torque: 147 Nm @ 4000 rpm dimensions: 356 x 153 x 138 cm wheelbase: 243 cm luggage compartment: 195 l weight: 870 kg top speed: 186 km/h acceleration: 9.1 s 00:00 - Merry Christmas! 00:51 - The history of the Renault 5 02:48 - The history of the Renault 5 Alpine 05:45 - The history of the Renault 5 Turbo 06:47 - The technology of the R5 Alpine Turbo Did you like it?
