I wanted to come back to the weather/climate events of August 18 in Corsica, 3 days ago when I made this video, where we found ourselves facing winds of incredible violence (225km/h) at about 20 Nautical (a little less than 40km) off the coast of Cargèse on a 12.5m sailboat. I share in all sincerity our experience, what we lived, the decisions made, the context, the mistakes, ... Let it be clear, I do not set myself up as a teacher, or even as an advice giver. My goal here is to relate the facts and share this experience, with a few images. We will unfortunately be forced to bring the camera back in as soon as the first gust at 100 knots passes, and we will take it out again an hour later when the conditions drop to between 50 and 70 knots. Constructive comments are welcome! Edit Sept 2024: Thank you all for your encouraging comments. I did not expect so much enthusiasm for this topic. 2 years have passed since then, we have continued to sail and we have continued to prepare our sailboat even better for the round the world trip. We definitely left our home port on August 1st for our long voyage! I will try to free up some time to offer some videos, which I hope will also be interesting. So do not hesitate to subscribe!
