It is a new truck that comes with a new way of thinking about transportation and a platform prepared for the present and the future,” he adds. Launched in Europe in August 2016, the new Scania Generation is the result of 10 years of development and investments of around 2 billion Euros. “For strategic reasons, we implemented the introduction in phases. And, over the last two years, we have monitored the introduction of Long-Distance, Regional and Urban and Severe applications. At the same time, the exclusive and renowned Scania Global Production System has been preparing itself,” explains Podgorski. According to him, being the last region has a great advantage. “We have a vehicle that has not only been tested and approved by customers, but is also recognized for its innovations and the exceptional performance it delivers,” he says. Celso Torii, vice president of Sales & Marketing at Scania Latin America, emphasizes that the new generation of trucks was designed and planned to meet specific customer needs, by application. “We went beyond what is available on the market and created something that has never been done before: a customized offering, because we know that the more precise the specification, the greater the chances of return in terms of profitability,” he emphasizes. “We are not introducing just one truck, but a combination of transportation solutions. We have added the remarkable features of the new cabins, innovative technologies, services and a sales force prepared to support this business model. In short, the new generation Scania redefines the term ‘premium’ within the commercial vehicle industry in Latin America.” All the parts and details of the new generation were improved to create a product that exceeds customer expectations. The vehicles are even safer, more comfortable and more fuel efficient. Elements such as aerodynamics and cabin interior space were thought through in every detail, resulting in fuel consumption up to 12% lower. “The new generation Scania stands out by proving that profitability and sustainability are not opposed, on the contrary, they complement each other,” emphasizes Podgorski. Investments – A premium product needs to be manufactured in a premium plant. “We invested more than R$2.6 billion in preparing for this moment. This means that today, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), we have the most modern factory in Latin America – a mirror of what we have today in Europe. We use all the latest technology and the highest level of automation, with the goal of obtaining the best quality,” says Podgorski. Within its industrial park in São Bernardo do Campo, Scania has a new cabin welding factory – which features state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 and impresses with its cutting-edge technology and 75 robots, in addition to new production lines for assembling the new truck. “A lot of work has been done by all teams involved so far, and a lot of focus has been placed on training and qualification,” says Podgoski. The executive also highlights a stage that he believes is one of the most important for the introduction: preparing the sales force. “We have a new truck. We have a new cabin. But the biggest change is in the way we see the transportation and logistics industry and our customers. That’s why training was a crucial success factor,” says the President and CEO of Latin America. #Scania #ScaniaBrasil #FábricaScania #ScaniaSBC #BlogAuto
