About :

The current Znamensky parish was created in Kemerovo in 1989 and registered by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs. During the Soviet years, the Znamensky Church operated in the central part of Kemerovo, but it was destroyed in 1960. Znamensky Church The first Liturgy of the parish was celebrated on Easter 1989 in a part of a residential building that had been converted into a church. In 1990, a brick baptismal church was built. Bishop Anthony of Krasnoyarsk and Yenisei consecrated the baptismal church in honor of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious in front of a huge crowd of people and celebrated the first service in it on December 10, 1990, the patronal feast of the icon of the Mother of God "Znamenie". The construction of the Znamensky Cathedral was also started in 1990. On October 14, 1995, the Protection of the Holy Mother of God, the consecration of the lower church in honor of the holy equal-to-the-apostles Prince Vladimir was performed by His Grace Sophrony, Bishop of Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk.
