The name itself tells us what plant we are dealing with, in fact “Calla” derives from the Greek “Kalos”, meaning “beautiful”, in short, this flower has always been highly appreciated! A little curiosity comes, in addition to the common name, from the botanical name “Zantedeschia”, in fact this name was given to it by the German botanist Kurt Sprengel, dedicating it however to an Italian botanist friend of his, a certain Giovanni Zantedeschi, with whom he maintained a close epistolary relationship. In the texts it is in fact correctly named as Zantedeschia aethiopica (Linn.) Spreng., thus attributing the first identification to Linnaeus and the current binomial nomenclature to Sprengel.
