Fishing guide Peter Lahti tells us what kind of places he fishes for pike-perch in the autumn. At the same time, he explains his own ways of using a sonar and chart plotter to find fish. Interpreting a sonar requires a little practice, but with a few tricks you can improve your ability to find target fish. Using a sonar and adjusting it correctly is essential when searching for fish near the bottom. Pike-perch jigging is Peter's strongest sport, specifically bottom jigging. The pike-perch spots in the autumn are completely different from those in midsummer, but partly similar to those in early spring. Pike-perch fishing in the autumn is successful in straits and shallow bays. It may come as a surprise to many that in September you can catch pike-perch in very shallow, flat-bottomed bays, which are more commonly thought of as pike-perch spots. In October, pike-perch can be caught in straits with deep water nearby. In the very end of autumn, pike-perch can still be found in straits and river estuaries. Peter's tips work both at sea and in the lake and the sonar reading is the same regardless of the fishing location. Peter's equipment includes a Lowrance Elite Ti sonar and an HDS7 plotter. Both are mid-priced devices. http://www.lowrance.eu/fi Basics of zander jig fishing: https://www.kalastus.com/artikkelit/k...
