His father was the famous musician Ustad Alla Rakha. Thanks to his father, Zakir learned to play instruments from his earliest childhood. He performed as a teenager. At the age of nineteen, he traveled to the United States for the first time, giving concerts alongside Ravi Shankar. The audience remembers Hussain's outstanding albums very well, with the album "Making Music" recorded for the famous ECM label at the forefront. This album is sometimes considered one of the greatest musical fusions of the East and the West. The leader's partners there were John McLaughlin, Jan Garbarek and the legendary Hariprasad Chaurasia - Rakesh's uncle, who we will hear in Krakow. Hussain collaborated with John McLaughlin many times, including: co-creating great recordings by his groups Shakti and Remember Shakti. In turn, together with Bill Laswell, he led the group Tabla Beat Science, gathering outstanding tablists and percussionists. He also co-created the excellent projects Planete Drum and Global Drum. He collaborated with the greatest – from George Harrison and Van Morrison to Pharoah Sanders and Charles Lloyd. He himself is a living music legend today. RAKESH CHAURASIA is not only the nephew, but also one of the most talented students of Hariprasad Chaurasia. He plays the bansouri, a traditional Indian bamboo flute. He has collaborated with, among others, the famous Talvin Singh. He took part in recording dozens of albums. He leads, among others, the group RAF, or Rakesh and Frieds.
