Actor Yuriko Ishida appeared at the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Monet Water Lilies", for which she is an ambassador, held at the National Museum of Western Art in Ueno, Tokyo on October 4th. Ishida, who turned 55 on the 3rd, was asked by the MC how she spends her time and replied, "Just having dinner with friends. That's how it is." Ishida, who is an ambassador for the exhibition, said, "I first encountered Monet's 'Water Lilies' in Paris when I was 19 years old. Since then, I've really loved Monet's paintings, and I can't forget the excitement I felt when I first saw them..." and said with a smile, "So, I'm overwhelmed with emotion. I'm really happy to be able to take on such an important role." In June, she went to view Monet's paintings at the Musée Marmottan Monet in Paris, France, and said with a deep emotion, "It's really moving to know that the works I saw there are now here at the National Museum of Western Art in Ueno." Ishida said that she also visited places related to Monet, such as the garden of his home in Giverny, France, and commented, "I was a little dizzy when I saw the world that I had only seen in paintings appear before my eyes. I thought, 'This is the real thing...'" She revealed her feelings at the time, saying, "I was moved, or rather, I was moved." "Monet: Water Lilies" is an exhibition focusing on the later years of Claude Monet, a representative Impressionist painter. Ambassador Ishida will be in charge of the theme song "My Monet" as part of the music activity project "lily," and will also serve as the audio guide. The exhibition will be held at the National Museum of Western Art (Taito-ku, Tokyo) from October 5th to February 11th, 2025.
