????️⛪ Saint Benedict of Nursia (480-547) was a Christian monk, venerated as a saint by the Catholic Church and considered the father of Western monasticism. Born in Nursia in central Italy around 480, he studied in Rome, where he became disillusioned with the licentious life of the city and decided to retire to the life of an eremitic. He initially lived as a hermit in a cave in Subiaco, where his holiness attracted many disciples. He founded several monasteries in Subiaco before moving to Monte Cassino, where he established one of the most important monasteries in Christendom. Saint Benedict is best known for his **Rule of Saint Benedict**, a set of precepts for monastic life combining prayer, work and study. The Rule is renowned for its balance and moderation, and has had a lasting influence on Western monasticism. Saint Benedict died in Monte Cassino around the year 547. He was canonized and is commemorated on July 11. He is the patron saint of Europe and of engineers, and his medal is used as a symbol of protection against evil. Saint Benedict's influence extends to this day through the Benedictine Rule and the Benedictine Order. ???? HELP US REACH 1000 SUBSCRIBERS! ????
