Grace to Enjoy Once More Watch the Sermon Again This sermon is part of the 2013 New Church 'Daniel's Sermon' series. Sermon Text: Daniel 10:1-21 1. In the third year of the reign of Cyrus king of Persia, a thing was revealed to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, and it was true, concerning a great war. And Daniel understood the thing clearly and understood the vision. 2. Then I, Daniel, was in mourning three weeks. 3. I did not eat fine bread, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth, nor did I anoint myself with oil until the three weeks were completed. 4. On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was by the bank of the great river, which is Hiddekel, 5. Then I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, whose waist was girded with fine gold of Uphaz. 6. His body also seemed like beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like burnished bronze, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude. 7. I, Daniel, saw the vision alone; the men who were with me, who did not see the vision, fled in great trembling. 8. So I was alone, and saw this great vision, and my strength left me. My comeliness was turned into corruption, and I retained all my strength. 9. Then I heard his voice, and while I was listening to his voice, I fell into a deep sleep with my face to the ground. 10. And behold, a hand touched me, and I trembled, and he lifted me up so that my knees and the palms of my hands touched the ground. 11. And he said to me, ‘Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have been sent to you.’ After he had spoken this word to me, I stood trembling. 12. Then he said to me, ‘Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come because of your words. 13. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, so I remained there with the kings of Persia. Then, look! Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me. 14. And now, I am here to make you understand what will happen to your people in the last days. 15. And when he had said these things to me, I turned my face to the ground, and was speechless. 16. Then one like the Son of Man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and said to him who was standing before me, 'My lord, the vision has made me very anxious, and I have no strength left. 17. There is no strength left in me, and there is no breath left in me. How then can your servant speak to my lord?' 18. Then one like the appearance of a man touched me and strengthened me, 19. And he said to me, 'Do not be afraid, man greatly favored; peace be with you. Be strong, be of good cheer.' When he had spoken this to me, I was strengthened and said, 'Speak, for my lord has strengthened me. 20. And he said to me, 'Do you know why I have come to you? Now I will return to fight against the prince of Persia; but when I have gone out, the prince of Greece will come. 21. But I will first go first. It will be shown to you as written in the book of truth: The only one who can help me against them is Michael, your prince.
