In an attempt to keep her 4th grade class in check in a middle school in Val de Marne, Mathilde, a 25-year-old English teacher, finds nothing better than to shout and hand out punishments left, right and centre. This young woman, who is starting her first year of school, improvises in front of her students due to a lack of solid training in class management. She is part of this generation of young teachers who teach full-time as soon as they leave university. Before this reform dictated by economic concerns, teachers remained trainees for a year in order to learn the basics of teaching. As a result, Mathilde has to make do with the rare advice given to her by her experienced colleagues and DVDs sent by the national education system. The quality of teaching sometimes suffers and the young woman is often discouraged. Portrait of one of these young teachers on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
