He graduated from Çorum Imam-Hatip High School in 1977. He dropped out of Istanbul University Faculty of Law, which he entered in 1986. Balkanlıoğlu, who received his Arabic education from Emin Saraç Hoca, started working as an imam in Ağva Hacıköy in Şile in 1977. Balkanlıoğlu, who worked at the Sarıyer Rumeli Feneri Village Mosque in 1978, worked at the Şehzade Başı Hoşkadem Mosque in 1980, and at the Acemoğlu Mosque affiliated with the Fatih Mufti's Office in 1983. During this period, he served as the President of the Fatih Religious Officials Association. Afterwards, Balkanlıoğlu was assigned to Kayabaşı Village of Küçükçekmece district and retired from there. Abdulmetin Balkanlıoğlu is married and has two children. Abdulmetin Balkanlıoğlu, who passed away on 20.06.2018, was buried in the Edirnekapı Gum Tree Cemetery.
