The Background of the Verse “You are not Mad/Insane” “By the blessing of your Lord, you are never mad/possessed of jinn.” (68/Qalam, 2) In the Arab society, effective speech (poem, soothsayer, etc.) was spoken by poets and soothsayers. It was believed that both groups had connections with the jinn and that they spoke words of high literary value and impact with the inspiration they received from the jinn. Famous poets would openly give the names of jinn and name the jinn who wrote poems for them. For example, there are verses by the poet Asha about a jinn named Mishel helping him write poems. (see Cemharatu Eş'ari'l Arab, p. 62-63) Considering this background, the polytheists called him mad/insane/possessed. Because the Quran was the most special word they had ever heard in terms of aesthetics and impact. It was known that no human could utter it. In that case, the Meccan aristocrats would either say, “This is the word of Allah,” and surrender, or they would liken the Quran to the effective words spoken by soothsayers and poets with the help of jinn. In order not to lose their privileges by becoming equal with the whole society in worshipping Allah, they chose the second path. They equated the Quran with the rhymed verses of the poets and the distinguished words of the soothsayers. So, what was the reason behind slandering Muhammad (pbuh) with slanders such as being mad, a soothsayer, etc.? In our opinion, there was only one reason for this, and that was to sever the connection between Muhammad (pbuh) and Allah. A society that believed in Allah would also believe in the impressive message coming from Him. The dominant society was; “The prominent figures of Mecca, such as Walid ibn Mughira, Abdullah ibn Umayya, Nadr ibn Haris, Nawfal ibn Huwaylid, who shaped the economy and politics, were on the one hand advising and organizing efforts to prevent the Quran from being listened to, while on the other hand they were resorting to the method of discrediting this message in the eyes of the society. They could not find a gap in Muhammad’s (pbuh) life before the revelation that would justify them in their struggle. They had nothing to say in the face of the Quran’s solid and fascinating semantic structure. Therefore, they were left with only one way, which was to deny the communication between Muhammad (pbuh) and Allah and to spread speculative information about the source of the revelation. In this way, they were trying to prevent people from turning to an effective voice that was a sincere representative and caller.” ➥ https://www.tevhiddersleri.org/ ➥ https://tevhiddergisi.org/ ➥ https://tevhidgundemi.com/ ➥ https://www.tevhidkitap.net/ ???? https://tevhidmeali.com/ For Contact: ☎️ Wp: +90 0535 766 45 45 ☎️ ????
