On June 15, the Yoon Seok-yeol government closed the Gongju Dam sluice gates to carry out a flood control. This was in response to the claim of People Power Party lawmaker Jeong Jin-seok that he would alleviate the drought in the Gongju region. As it turned out, lawmaker Jeong Jin-seok was making false claims based on photos from the 2017 drought.
